Bilingual (French/English) Nurse Practitioner
1 temporary fulltime position, 35 hours/ week
12 month-contract
Location: Welland
Salary range: $107,822- $124,634
Under the direction of Primary Care Services Coordinator, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide primary health care focused mainly on health promotion and disease prevention in accordance with the practices and standards of care set out in the Standards of Practice for registered nurses in the Ontario Specialist Category. They will determine and manage common health problems and diseases independently or in collaboration with the doctor. They will work in an interdisciplinary team to address issues affecting the health of community members.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary health care to clients of all ages within the scope of practice of the NP
- Identify client health issues by risk factors
- Involve clients in identifying risk factors and health problems, setting goals, and choosing interventions
- Prescribe, interpret and monitor screening and diagnostic examinations if necessary
- Keep complete, accurate and up-to-date client records
- Meet with clients at the CSC and contribute to case coordination
- Treat clients with stable chronic conditions, manage and follow them as directed by the physician
- Refer clients to the health programs and other services offered by the CSC
- Participate in the monitoring process of controlled substances in accordance with Health Canada's policies and procedures in effect
- Participate in the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, best practices and protocols
- Collect and process statistical information required by the Center and donors
- Participate in team and staff meetings, sit on internal and / or external committees
Education, Experience and Specific Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing and NP Certificate from a recognized university
- Practice Permit for the Specialty Class of the CNO
- Experience in dealing with mental health and addictions issues would be an asset
- In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of physical examination and treatment methods
- Good judgment, decision-making, and interpersonal skills,
- Excellent ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Speak and write fluently French and English
- Very good knowledge of basic computer software
- Be willing to work flexible hours to meet client needs
- Have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver's license
- Provide a criminal record check including the vulnerable sector check
- A valid first aid and CPR certificate would be an asset.
