Hospitalist wanted in Williams Lake, BC

Job Description:

Seeking locums and permanent positions for full-time (1 in 2 weeks) and part-time (1 in 4 weeks) Hospitalists.

·        2 physicians covering attached and unattached medical patients including consulting on mental health patients that require medical attention and attending to the daytime ER admissions.

·        On intake, complete admissions from ER or take direct admissions from GP Clinics and repatriations from surrounding areas.

·        Weeks run from Friday-Friday or Monday-Monday with flexibility.

Hospital Information:

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging - including CT, and outpatient Hemodialysis Unit are operated on-site.

Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and mental-health unit.

About Us:

Cariboo Memorial Hospital will be expanding to three hospitalist + 1 NP for Short Stay/ALC coverage. The hospitalist service is a robust and growing program that provides MRP or collaborative care medical support to roughly 2/3 of all patients admitted to Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH).

Qualifications:

• Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
• Or Internal Medicine Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
• Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
• Prior hospitalist experience is helpful but not mandatory.

Remuneration:

24-hour coverage of unattached inpatients

·        $1683.68 per 8-hour on site shift 0800-1600 paid at the Hospitalist Service Category Hourly Rate of $187.38 + RRP 12.32% = $210.46 per hour

·        $331.52 – 16 hours MOCAP Level 2 for on-call hours 1600 – 0800

·        Fee for Service billings if called in after hours

An exception to temporarily offer a locum recruitment incentive has been approved by the Ministry of Health from February 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024 or earlier subject to recruitment efforts

·        Payable at a flat rate of $650 per shift

All scheduled locums are eligible for travel expenses in accordance with the IH Locum Policy as well as Paid travel time honorarium to a maximum of $1,500.
