Basic Purpose of Position:
- To work collaborative with program director, core faculty, residents, and health system to maintain a high level of Family Medicine training and primary care in the clinical settings.
- To provide teaching and precepting to the family medicine residents and clerkship students in the Capital Health Family Medicine Residency.
- To provide comprehensive patient care at the Capital Health Primary Care at Brunswick Avenue.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Administrative Duties
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Family Medicine curriculum to, at a minimum, meet ACGME requirements for family medicine residency education
- This will include, but not limited to, noon conferences, morning report, didactic sessions, simulations, and recorded lectures
- The curriculum must be structured and compliment the residents’ total educational experience
- The curriculum must include the diagnosis, management, and coordination common mental illnesses in the primary care setting
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of applicants to the residency program.
- Regularly participate in residency committees, including, but not limited to, PEC and CCC
- Assists with short and long-term planning for the Family Medicine Residency and Primary Care at Brunswick Avenue
- Serves on assigned committees within the residency, medical group, and hospital
- Maintains board certification through regular CME activities and board exams
- Evaluation
- Regularly participate in formal and informal feedback and evaluation with the residents
- Participate in the family medicine boot camp, OSCEs, and simulations
- Actively attend and contribute in residency evaluation, CCC, and PEC meeting
- Education
- Lecture monthly in regularly scheduled didactics
- Assist in resident-run didactics, like journal club, M&M, and other lectures
- Work collaboratively to create an innovative educational resident experience
- Advise as faculty mentor to residents as they work on their required scholarly projects.
- Serve as faculty advisor to 1-2 residents when at full complement of residents
- Participate and teach in Faculty Development Sessions as designated within given areas of expertise and knowledge.
- Regularly precept residents in outpatient/inpatient setting, on rotation, via phone, and as needed
- Education residents in any area of expertise. For example, women’s health, maternity care, geriatrics, sports medicine, or hospital medicine.
- Patient Care
- Provide direct patient care without residents in the Capital Health Primary Care at Brunswick Avenue in accordance with current standards of care
- Other
- Attend assigned faculty and departmental conferences and meetings
- Demonstrate active scholarly work annually
- Perform other related job duties as assigned by the Program Director of the Capital Health Family Medicine Residency
Education and Experience: Physician with New Jersey licensure, ABFM or ABOFM board certified. Previous faculty experience desirable. Must have genuine desire to teach, to work collaboratively, and to provide leadership.
