ChristianaCare is searching for an exceptional Physician Advisor to join our Utilization Management and Quality team . The successful candidate will join a nationally recognized team of physician advisors. This physician's primary function is to provide medical leadership to the utilization management and discharge planning functions and to champion organization-wide performance improvement and patient safety activities. The full-time physician advisor position will allow for opportunities to work both onsite and remote. This role will compliment a full-time clinical provider with on-site clinical responsibilities at ChristianaCare.

Key Responsibilities for Physician Advisor Role:
Provides leadership in engaging the Medical Staff in the appropriate utilization of resources. Works with the various department chairs to identify issues within clinical departments and between departments which impede the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective care delivery.
Collaborates with the Directors of Case Management and Social Work to resolve ancillary support issues. Identifies opportunities for improvement related to patterns identified in the utilization of resources, length of stay, system delays, and provider practice patterns. Informs appropriate clinical, administrative and ancillary personnel regarding these opportunities and facilitates the development of action plans as appropriate.
Collaborates with Health Information Management Systems Staff to review cases for clinical documentation and coding opportunities
Supports the Finance Department with resolving contract and payor issues as appropriate.
Rounds on assigned nursing units as needed.
Identifies quality of care and patient safety concerns and works to facilitate resolution to patient care issues.
Position Qualifications:
Medical Doctorate Degree: MD or DO required.
At least three years clinical work experience post residency.
Physician Advisor Certification required within one year of employment.
Practicing provider with requirement of clinical responsibilities at ChristianaCare.
