County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a large public teaching healthcare system, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking full-time, part-time and extra help BC/BE Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physicians to join our dynamic practice in our county’s correctional facilities with opportunity to design a hybrid practice that includes assignments in our health system’s primary care or urgent care clinics.

About the organization
County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County. CSCHS is our local healthcare safety net and provider of comprehensive care, service, and programs to the residents. The Health System includes the Behavioral Health Services Department, Public Health Department, Emergency Medical Services Agency, Custody Health Services, Valley Health Plan and Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH). SCVH comprises of three hospitals: Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC - a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH - 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds) and a network of 11 outpatient health centers across the county, several urgent care clinics and a large specialty center.
SCVMC itself hosts four residency and one fellowship training programs and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties. SCVMC also features a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA verified Burn Center, Primary Stroke Center, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center. Owing to its geographic location and specialty offerings, SCVMC not only serves the County, but also the larger region.
Providers in our health system utilize a customized electronic health record (Epic) in both the Custody Health and SCVH care settings. The Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized SCVMC for achieving its highest level of success (Stage 7), based on our continuous innovation and optimization of our inpatient and outpatient EHR.

About the Adult Custody Health Services (ACHS)
Our adult custody system includes the Main Jail in San Jose, Elmwood Men’s Facility and Correctional Center for Women in Milpitas. The Custody Health Services team provides comprehensive primary, preventive health and urgent care services to our patients. As an integrated part of our large health system, our custody physicians have access to full range of specialty services.
About the Positions
We are seeking physicians with an interest in health equity, correctional medicine, and service to vulnerable and underserved populations. In a 40-hours work week of a full-time physician, there are nine half days of clinical assignments and one-half day of patient care coordination time. Additional administrative time is granted to physician with assigned administrative duties.
Physicians will join a dynamic Medical Staff and a dedicated team of adult custody primary care physicians.
About compensation and benefits
We offer competitive base salary, custody incentive differential pays, and over-code pay.
