Our client is seeking a full-time permanent Medical Oncologist with a Hematology specialty to join their collegial, multi-disciplinary team.

The Hospital, located in Southern PEI is the provincial referral center for specialized hospital services. The 243-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient and ambulatory care services.

Overview:

Medical Oncologists with a Hematology specialty play an essential role in providing direct patient care with responsibilities for the delivery of facility based in-patient care and community-based oncology treatment, including the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancers or disorders of the blood. The physicians work closely with specialist colleagues in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Family Medicine–Oncology physicians through each phase of a patient’s journey with malignancy.

HOURS OF WORK: 

• Typical business hours Monday–Friday with occasional after-hours work required.
• Positions require participation in Provincial Oncology on-call schedule.

REMUNERATION: Physicians have the option of choosing salary or fee-for-service payment modality. earning potential $400, 000-$500,000.

JOB DUTIES: Full participation in the call rotation is expected, as is a willingness to provide all services routinely offered by Department members.

INCENTIVES:

• Moving Expense Allowance is available.
• Qualified and licensable candidates may be eligible for a return in service grant of $100,000 with a 3 year (5,850 hour) commitment.
• Opportunity to teach medical students and residents with a faculty appointment from Dalhousie University.
• Electronic patient record system (hospital based) with access to lab and x-ray reports from the office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• FRCPC or eligibility for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification.
• Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island.
• US Board Certified Physician are eligible for independent license 
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
• Eligible for appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff with appropriate privileging;
• Work experience preferable with at least 1- 2 years of clinical experience working in Canada.
• Ability to drive and travel the island to various locations
