Kamloops:
Kamloops is a vibrant city of 100,000, at the northern extension of productive wine country in south central British Columbia. We sit in the middle of lakes, mountains, ski hills, and river systems. We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, water sports, all right here in our backyard. Our community has an excellent educational system, organized sports, music and theatre. There are amenities not often found in smaller urban centres. University affiliations provide rejuvenation and an atmosphere to keep learning.
Kamloops Urgent & Primary Care Centre:
Our new UPCC located in the Northhills Mall on the North Shore of Kamloops features a large purpose-built design with many exam rooms and an abundance of free parking.
The new North Shore UPCC sees patients who might normally go to a family doctor or nurse practitioner for their ailment, if an appointment had been available. Patients will typically be seen by a physician, but they may also be seen by a physiotherapist, a nurse, a social worker or other clinician, depending on the nature of their injury or illness.
There is an increased number of team-based care available by referral at the Urgent Primary Care Centre for non-life threatening illnesses or injuries that need same-day care. With a hybrid walk-in and phone-in access model, patients will have choices and low-barrier access to care.
The team provides care for:
• Less serious injuries
• Lacerations/wounds/skin conditions
• Infections
• Minor pediatric illness/injury
• Women’s health
• Culturally safe care
Practice Description:
Exciting family physician opportunity in Kamloops at the North Shore Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC)!
As a Family Practice Physician, you will work with members of the care team at the Kamloops North Shore Urgent and Primary Care Clinic (UPCC). This state of the art clinic will provide urgent, and episodic care to the community of Kamloops. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians to work as part of an interprofessional team in a new, modern space.
The UPCC team consists of family practitioners (FPs), nurse practitioners (NPs), registered nurse team lead, primary care registered nurses (RNs), physiotherapists, social workers (SWs), medical office assistants (MOAs), and a dedicated operational manager. The team will focus on members of the general population with non-life threatening illnesses or injuries who need access to same-day care, including those who are unattached.
