Speech Language Pathologist - Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) working in the Integrated Stroke Unit will utilize their knowledge skills and judgment with an inter-disciplinary focus to facilitate admission, treatment and discharge into the ISU. They will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the principles of impairment, activity, and participation as described by the World Health Organization.
• Support client-centered care and include the person with stroke/caregiver in goal setting and treatment planning.
• Understand neuroplasticity as a core concept of stroke recovery and the principles relevant to occupational therapy assessment and interventions.

Required Education & Certification(s)

Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent.

Member in good standing with College of Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario (CASLPO).

CPR.

Required Skills & Experience(s)

• Experience with video fluoroscopy assessment of swallowing disorders.
• 3-5 years’ experience within a healthcare setting focused on the adult, senior, and rehabilitation populations.
• Computer skills including electronic medical record and Microsoft Office.
