Job Summary
Provide comprehensive outpatient care to pediatric patients including infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Services may include: preventive care, immunizations, primary care and treatment, health education, prescribing of medication, ordering and interpreting lab testing or imaging, order and act on referrals based on patient need, physical examinations, screening examinations and other services within the scope of training.
Essential Job Functions
- Diagnose and treat illnesses, medical conditions and injuries
- Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests
- Collect, record and maintain patient information and histories
- Prescribe and administer treatments, medications, vaccinations and other specialized pediatric medical care
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and family members
- Monitor patients' conditions and progress
- Direct, coordinate, consult with and refer patients to specialists, therapists and other medical staff
- Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development
- Advise parents on childrens’ diet, exercise and disease preventive measures
- Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences
- Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review; and peer review programs which evaluate the quality of the medical staff and medical services being performed at the clinics
- Provide supervision and consultation to nurse practitioners in person or via telephone or virtual means
- Perform other duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications- Current Medical License in state of California; board certified
- Current DEA license
- CPR Certification (BLS Child, Infant, Adult)
- In depth knowledge of childrens’ epidemiology and infectious diseases
- Experience in diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation principles and techniques
- Current knowledge of drugs/medication appropriate for children and their side-effects
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities- Excellent verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, clinicians and other staff
- Ability to meet productivity and quality standards as defined by the organization
- Ability to utilize electronic health records
- Knowledge of community health centers, public assistance programs, state and federal regulations and managed care systems a plus
Pay range is $280 - $300K
