Introduction
The Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) is looking for a part-time Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health and Addictions team, providing outpatient care for the brief psychiatric intervention program, which includes the full spectrum of diagnoses, e.g., mood, anxiety, psychosis etc. The candidate would ideally start September 2024, however, start dates and schedule are flexible and to be based on the candidate's availability. Most of the work is done in person with a percentage that can be done virtually depending on personal preference.
Clinical Setting and Duties
Our services in mental health and addictions are evolving and expanding! With more than 10,000 visits per year throughout our different services, our mental health and addictions program is recognized for its excellence, its energy, and the diversity of care that its many professionals and psychiatrists deliver. We offer quality mental health services to the residents of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The multi-disciplinary care team includes 6 psychiatrists, 1 general practitioner with addictions certification, as well as a group of geriatric psychiatrists in collaboration with the Royal Outreach Program. The Community Mental Health Services offer a wide range of services including intake, a crisis team, addiction services, adult mental health, geriatric psychiatry, Assertive Community Treatment Team, and a walk-in clinic. Multidisciplinary work and care plans are encouraged with the many different professionals such as navigators, crisis team works, addiction counsellors, nurses, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and peer support workers etc.

Training
Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and license with the College Physician and Surgeons of Ontario.
The candidate must possess experience with evidence-based psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic approaches suitable for outpatient care, be skilled in working on multidisciplinary teams, and be open to an environment where continuous quality improvement is a key feature of the daily work.
