Our client, a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Northern Ontario, is seeking a full-time Internist to join their dynamic team. Physicians will work within a collaborative environment, guided by trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, while helping to fulfill the hospital's mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners. 

 

The Critical Care Unit is a 6-bed level 2 advanced intensive care unit that serves the community, as well as, their District Partners. It is an open unit where general surgeons, anesthesia, and pediatricians have admitting privileges to the CCU. They have the capability of transvenous pacing, ventilation, and dialysis within the unit. There is a multidisciplinary team available, with Nursing, Respiratory Therapist 24/7, Social Work, Dieticians, Speech, and Physiotherapists. Our client has a Family Medicine Hospitalist Program and there is full support by all surgical specialties (with the exception of cardiac and neurosurgery). The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics with quick access to CT, MRI, echo, and nuclear medicine, opportunity for EKG reading, Holter monitors, stress testing and PFT's. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to medical education by teaching and mentoring medical students and family medicine residents through their affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. This is a fulfilling role for those who are passionate about both clinical excellence and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

 

Remuneration:

  • Fee-for-Service 
  • Hourly Wage
  • Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan

 

Incentives:

  • Incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,718 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Medical Degree with specialist training in Internal Medicine.
  • Certification or eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • US Board certified physicians are eligible for an independent license in Ontario.
  • Have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS
  • Have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
  • have excellent clinical skills
  • Have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
