POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE
REPORTS TO: Director of Care
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Registered Practical Nurse is accountable for their own clinical practice as per the College of Nurses of Ontario's Practice Standard: Professional Standards.
- Accountable to the Director of Care for providing nursing care and clinical intervention and supervision of unregistered staff to meet the unique, special and holistic needs of the residents using knowledge, skill, decision-making and communication techniques.
- Practices within pre-set policies and procedures in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
- Participation in the development and strives to achieve nursing goals and objectives for the Unit.
- Participates in in Homes committees.
- Participates in the Unit programs (e.g.) Occupational Health and Safety Program, Quality Management Program, and Fire Safety.
- Assumes responsibility for medication administration, narcotic control, application of treatments and dressings, transcription of Physician orders, reordering of medications, and other skills.
