Salary Range / Classification: $28.69 to $30.39 (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) assumes responsibility as a team leader for an assigned unit, under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Primary duties include the safe provision of medications and treatments to residents.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform nursing skills in compliance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice
• Take responsibility for the management of the nursing unit on a tour of duty under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Assist with implementation of prescribed medical regime as per the resident’s POC
• Take responsibility for activities delegated by the Registered Nurse

Skills and Knowledge:

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Experience working in Long Term Care desirable
• Current CPR and First Aid certification

Soft Skills:

• Maintain professional collaborative relationships with other multidisciplinary team members AND therapeutic nurse-client relationship with the resident and their family
• Demonstrate sound leadership skills in problem solving and decision-making
• Act as an effective mentor to new RPN and PSW staff and provide ongoing encouragement and support as needed

• Sit for short periods
• Bend, stoop, and carry
• Push/pull wheeled equipment

Signing Bonus:

A signing bonus of $500 will be offered to successful candidates, with a one (1) year commitment to the position.
