The Deep River and District Hospital (DRDH) is seeking Hospitalist coverage for the following weeks:
· July 26 – August 1, 2024
· August 30 – September 5, 2024
· October 25 – 31, 2024
· November 22 – 28, 2024

The Hospitalist’s primary duties are to provide care and services for all hospital in-patients while working alongside our multi-disciplinary team. The Hospitalist is the most responsible physician (MRP) for up to 16 to 18 patients on the medical unit. DRDH has 16 medical in-patient beds, 2 of which are monitored beds, and the possibility to surge up to 18 patients if required. As the Hospitalist, you are the sole physician responsible for the patients on the medical unit between 0600-2300 hrs, with the Emergency Department physician covering patients overnight. Weeks are presently scheduled for 7 days at a time with handover happening on Friday morning at 0600 hours to the next Hospitalist on rotation. The Hospitalist is to be available during their call hours for new admissions to the medical floor, and participates in timely rounding and effective discharges for patients. The Hospitalist also participates in case conferences, meetings, consultations, transfers, etc. for patients as required with members of the care team. The Hospitalist communicates discharge plans to the receiving community physician or nurse practitioner in a manner that optimizes continuity of care.
Competitive stipend paid, $1500/daily.
Requirements: Valid CPSO, Proof of CMPA

Deep River is located just under 2.5 hours west of Ottawa and 2 hours east of North Bay, along the Trans Canada Highway for ease of commuting. Deep River is has a population of approximately 4000+, with a catchment area of 10 000+. The town is nestled along the banks of the Ottawa River and is an ideal area for outdoor enthusiasts.
