Job Description

Cabarrus Eye Center is seeking an optometrist to join our busy, growing practice of 8 ophthalmologists and 2 optometrists.  Our practice has served the Cabarrus and surrounding communities for over 60 years.  We pride ourselves on providing high quality, compassionate patient care and reach a primary service area population of 500,000+.  We are a high volume ophthalmic practice with 2 comprehensive ophthalmologists, 5 sub-specialists (retina, cornea, pediatrics, glaucoma and oculoplastics), and 2 optometrists.  Our facilities include a 14,000 square foot main office and an adjacent 10,000 square foot second office.  We have our own on-site ophthalmic ASC with two OR suites.  Our ASC, Eye Surgery and Laser Clinic, is Medicare certified and accredited through AAAASF.

The offices are very well equipped including topography, photography/angiography, IOLMaster, Zeiss HD OCT, Humphrey VF, Yag and Argon lasers.  We participate in JACAPHO for ophthalmic training and certification and have a relatively low staff turnover.  Our clinic and surgery center employees approximately 75 staff members combined.

We participate in all major commercial insurance carriers (Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, Medcost), Medicare, including Advantage Plans, and Medicaid.  We also participate in Community Eye Care vision plan.  We have a full service optical shop with a large selection of glasses and contact lenses, with licensed opticians and contact lens specialists. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Our optometrists see a mix of patients, including routine exams for glasses and contact lenses and medical visits such as diabetic eye exams, glaucoma and many other medical conditions.  The optometrists in our office take call for our practice one week at a time, 8-9 weeks per year.  No hospital call is required. Optometrists in the practice have their own pre-appointed schedule of typically 25-35 encounters per day.  Technician and scribe support are provided.  Strong interest in glaucoma management is preferred.  Our practice also participates in the Atrium/CHS Family Practice Residency Training program.

Benefits include:

  • 3 weeks Vacation and continuing education time-off allowance; CE up to one week per year (5 working days).
  • Professional membership dues are paid.
  • Health, dental, disability and malpractice insurance.
  • 401K profit sharing retirement plan: automatic 3% contribution to individual 401K and 50% match up to 4% of salary after one year of service (or 1,000 hours).
  • Optical benefits for glasses and contacts
