The Poplar Bluff, MO the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time staff physician in Gastroenterology. Care for Veterans in a clinical setting by providing treating, diagnosing and managing patients referred for management of GI disorders that include liver disease, Hepatitis C, and liver transplants based on standard and customary methods and techniques. Join our staff of friendly and competent GI staff performing lower GI endoscopies; executing consultation on inputs and community living centers and answering consults.
Seeking BC/BE in Gastroenterology, U.S., green card or non-citizens with full and unrestricted medical license from any state.Typical day: 8:00am - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Absolutely NO call; consulted for emergencies and no need to come in on weekends. The average patient procedure case load is between 6-8 a day. In the Hepatology and GI clinic setting may see about 10-12 patients a day maximum where we treat Hep B & C patients. We are a non-academic facility; however, we do receive and teach students from the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine from neighboring Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Location: "The Gateway to the Ozarks" is the typical name for Poplar Bluff, Missouri. We are a mid-size small town with many attractions, shopping and lots recreational & leisurely things to do. The closest international airport is in St. Louis, MO and Memphis, TN.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:- ANNUAL SALARY: $350K - $400K (negotiable) + annual performance bonus up to additional $15K + full benefits below

- CME: $1,000 per year stipend for reimbursement + 1 week paid authorized absence to attend (subject to budget availability)

Federal Retirement Plan:- VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
- How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employee’s salary
- Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2015, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $18,000, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $24,000.
- The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
- For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
- In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
