POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

Our client in Ontario, is looking to expand its complement of permanent physicians. Supported by 1 full-time Nurse Practitioner, their team schedules three Hospitalists per weekday. Full-time physicians average 34 weeks per year; part-time opportunities are also available. Flexible scheduling is encouraged and supported. The Hospitalist will provide care for non-critical care medical and/or surgical patients over the age of 18. On-Call support also includes rehabilitation and psychogeriatric units, plus healthy newborns on weekends. Each Hospitalist carries a maximum patient load between 15 to 20 patients. The average on-call commitment includes 2 weeknights and 1 in 4 weekends. There is excellent support from consultant specialists and the emergency department, as well 24-hour labs and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability). Educational affiliations with the Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) and the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry provide a wide range of teaching opportunities.

LOCATION: 

Our client in Southwestern Ontario operates six hospitals. Their mission is to offer Quality Health Care, Right Here. They have 1,900 dedicated and compassionate staff and over 150 physicians who work together delivering excellent patient care to residents and visitors across their area.Their Regional Hospital is the largest of their sites, and offers a full range of specialty services, including complex surgeries, total joint replacements, cancer surgeries, MRI and CT diagnostic services. Across the six hospitals, they have more than 100,000 patient visits per year.Their rural hospitals offer a wide range of primary and ambulatory care services and all have 24/7 Emergency departments, lab and x-ray.

REMUNERATION:

• Competitive daily stipend.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• US Board certified Family Physicians or Internal Medicine physicians are eligible for a full license in Ontario.
• Canadian trained physicians with CCFP for Family Physicians or FRCPC in Internal Medicine.
• A minimum of 2 weeks locum coverage is recommended as part of the recruitment process.
