Your Opportunity: We are currently looking for a Full Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide assistance in the inpatient unit, under the direction of the Psychiatrist team at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is a 108-bed acute care facility with an emergency department, ICU, and specialty services in OBGYN, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. We are a designated facility with an acute care inpatient unit. Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is located in northeast Alberta, nestled in the boreal forest at the confluence of four rivers. Fort McMurray, the largest city in the Municipality, is considered an urban service area. In addition to Fort McMurray, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo consists of ten smaller communities: Anzac, Conklin, Draper, Fort Chipewyan, Fort Fitzgerald, Fort MacKay, Gregoire Lake Estates, Janvier/Chard, Mariana Lakes, and Saprae Creek Estates. Each of these communities has its own unique charms and attractions. Population: 81,150 including catchment. Location: 435 km northeast of Edmonton.
Description: As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications: Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: As Required.
Preferred Qualifications: Current experience as a NP in an acute care setting is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as an NP in Psychiatry.
