General Summary: 

This prominent children's hospital in Ontario is seeking a General Child & Youth Psychiatrist (Outpatient) to join their team. Our client, a 167-bed pediatric hospital in Ottawa, ON, Canada is looking for a child and adolescent psychiatrist to provide care in one of their many inpatient and/or outpatient programs.

As a General Child & Youth Psychiatrist in the outpatient department, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and providing evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions affecting children and adolescents. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

Remuneration and Benefits:

• This position will be well remunerated in alignment with other psychiatry positions at this location.
• The position provides 6 weeks paid vacation;
• 2 weeks paid conference time and protected time for academic work, quality improvement, and education. 
• Annual financial support for continuing professional development and research grant support are available.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children and youth
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on thorough evaluations and evidence-based practices.
• Provide ongoing psychiatric care, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for patients in the outpatient setting.
• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and contribute to the development of treatment strategies.
• Contribute to research initiatives and quality improvement projects aimed at advancing pediatric mental healthcare.

Qualifications:

• Medical degree and specialized training in Psychiatry
• Certification or eligibility from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (eligibility must be approved jurisdiction route only) or American Board Certified. American Board Certified Psychiatrists are eligible for an independent license
• Eligibility for licensure in Ontario and membership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
