Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Physiotherapist provides assessment of assigned clients and develops and implements individual and group physiotherapy treatment programs. The Physiotherapist is accountable for maintaining the Standards of Practice and Ethics of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. The Physiotherapist will provide clinical education and experience for allied health students and will participate in formal teaching and research in collaboration with Queen’s University or other institutions. As a team member, the Physiotherapist participates in discipline-specific and inter-professional activities that are directed towards a client-centered environment and that contribute to quality, operational efficiency, professional and program development.
Skills And Qualifications Required
- Graduate of a recognized school of Physiotherapy
- Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Experience in specified area of practice, preferred. Experience in student supervision, an asset.
Position Responsibilities
- Utilizes evidence-based practice and best practice
- Utilizes outcome measures to guide clinical decision-making
- Reviews medical referrals
- Performs appropriate evaluation/assessment
- Participates in inter-professional care planning, team, and family conferences
- Participates in physiotherapy education and counseling for clients, families and caregivers
- Shares newly acquired knowledge and skills with physiotherapy staff
- Participates in physiotherapeutic education for other health professionals, community groups and agencies
- Duties may vary according to practice location. Physiotherapists may be required to provide weekend coverage.
