Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Safe Harbour Society has an opening in our Shelter for a Full time Licensed Practical Nurse and casual positions.

Safe Harbour Society is a non-profit organization that strives to meet the needs of persons with addictions and homelessness through our 7 programs.

We are looking for an LPN that believes in the established vision and core values of Safe Harbour and is driven by our mission of providing spaces of welcome and connection.

Qualifications:

• LPN license
• Minimum of 2 years nursing practice and previous experience in the field of addictions or mental health preferred
• Solid working knowledge of the health system and community agencies in the City of Red Deer and Central Alberta
• Basic Life Saving Level C
• Active Registration and in good standing with licensing body
• Current Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Check

The LPN will provide direct nursing care and support in our Shelter program that serves the homeless population within our city. Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, other health and care professionals such as housing, justice and health, the LPNs will maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of addiction medication, alcohol, crystal meth, opioids and benzodiazepines. They will project a positive attitude towards substance dependent clients and their rehabilitation and possess a broad knowledge of substance use. As well display broad knowledge of behavior management and an ability to use non-violent crisis intervention strategies in a trauma informed manner.

Abilities will include but are not limited to analytical problem solving skills, case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills with the ability to communicate effectively both oral and written. LPNs will work effectively within an interdisciplinary environment with the ability to prioritize, work independently and use a cooperative approach to program delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $31.00-$33.00 per hour
