STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. 8 MONTHS)
WAGE RATE: $46.80 – $62.62
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacists are responsible for drug distribution and clinical activities for all patients at all Brightshores affiliated sites. This includes monitoring patient drug therapy and providing drug education to patients and other health care providers. The pharmacist reviews all physicians’ orders screening for drug interactions, therapeutic duplicates, dose range checking, therapeutic appropriateness and any other pharmacy related concerns. It may also include checking work of Technician staff and provision of pharmacy services in our retail pharmacy.
Required Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Ability to provide and promote patient centered care
- Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and organizational skills
- Interviewing and patient assessment skills
- Willingness to orient to other unit specialties
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Interest and experience in patient education and health promotion
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- General computer skills
- Available for all shifts, including weekends and ability for multi-site coverage when required
- Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal vehicle
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred:
- Membership in Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists
- Knowledge of Cerner information systems
- A General Hospital Residency Certificate or 3 years’ experience in a hospital with clinical pharmacist responsibilities
