Duties:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical documentation in the electronic health record system (Epic)
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar
- Assist with front desk duties such as answering phone calls, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent work experience
- Current certification in dental radiography
- Proficiency in using dental software systems for patient scheduling, medical coding, and electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide compassionate care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM technology for digital impressions and restorations is a plus
- Ability to perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and medical history
