Job Overview
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Resident Care Manager, and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
Education / Training
Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
Current basic cardiac life support certification.

Your Day to Day
Provides safe and respectful nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to policies and individualized care plans.
Conducts head-to-toe assessments, monitors for abnormal signs or symptoms, and communicates with the RN/RPN as needed.
Communicates with physicians regarding patient care, transcribes and processes orders, and documents care provided.
Prepares patients for surgical/diagnostic procedures, administers medications, and monitors their effects.
Identifies and responds to patient/resident and family learning needs, providing educational materials and incorporating teaching activities into care plans.
Responds to incidents such as Codes, injuries, hazardous spills, aggressive behavior, and fire alarms, and fills out appropriate forms.
Participates in the development, modification, and evaluation of individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
