Overview

The Hospital delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents. The Hospital is recruiting four full time Intensivists as it expands its critical care services to 9 ICU beds.

The Hospital is a full service medium sized community Hospital providing an array of diagnostic services including Nuclear Medicine, CT and MRI. The hospital has a busy emergency department, seeing 35,000 visits annually. Inpatients are primarily cared for by a hospitalist program. Full specialist support is provided by Anaesthesia, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Physiatry and Urology.

The vision is to grow the internal medicine program to include five general internists who will provide inpatient and emergency department consultations. The department of internal medicine will provide a daily ambulatory clinic for urgent consultations, and post-discharge follow up. Internists share the interpretation of available diagnostic tests. This area has potential for growth once additional internists bolster the current team. The surgical program is also growing with a new urologist, new ENT and an increase to the number of OR available days for new surgical procedures.

The Hospital is a designated District Stroke Center and has a level 3 ICU that is staffed by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists with access to all other allied health specialists. They have a well established referral protocol with local tertiary care centres.

Position Requirements

• Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Completion of an Adult Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
• Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCP(C)
• US Board Certified Physician are eligible for independent license in Ontario
• Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Remuneration is based on fee-for-service and on call stipend through the Hospital On Call Coverage Program

(HOCC).
