Senior Director, Program Nurse Practitioner and Department Head

The Senior Director, Program Nurse Practitioner and Department Head reports to the Executive Director, PHSA Nurse Practitioner and Department Head with matrix reporting to the applicable program Chief Operating Officer, and is responsible and accountable for the strategies and leadership of professional practice for Nurse Practitioners located within. The Senior Director Program Nurse Practitioner (NP) at BC Cancer/BCCH & BCWH works in collaboration with operations and key stakeholders across the organization and provides a NP professional practice lens to guide the development of professional standards of practice, scope, policies and procedures, and supports NP education, mentorship, quality improvement and research activities.
The Senior Director NP provides strong clinical leadership for the Program and may fulfill the role of the Department Head for the respective Department within the medical staff organization consistent with the role as described in the Medical Staff By-laws for Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). In addition, the Senior Director collaborates with other PHSA programs and services/departments, operational and medical leaders and develops strategies that support human resource planning, models of care, and performance quality assurance activities that enhance patient safety, quality of care and services while supporting the goals and objectives of PHSA, its agencies and programs. Fulfills Nurse Practitioner clinical duties as per BCCNM responsibilities.

A minimum current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in good standing with BCCNM. Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred, with a Nurse Practitioner qualification and a combination of leadership certification and/or education with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in a health care leadership role in a complex organization. Eligibility for or appointment to Medical Staff.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $124,561 - $179,056/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
