Q1. Tell me more about St. George Medical Center.
St. George Medical Center (SGMC) is a private multi-specialty center established in 2010. We have two clinics: one in Milton and one in Kitchener, Ontario.
Q2. What type of specialties are currently available at SGMC?
Our Milton clinic has two family physicians (for 12 years), one Rheumatologist (for 4 years) and one psychiatrist who replaced a retired one in 2022.
In our Kitchener clinic, we have one community Nephrologist (for 2 years) and a walk-in clinic opened 6 days a week (for 6 years).
Q3. What medical specialty is SGMC looking for in Kitchener clinic?
One Psychiatrist, one Endocrinologist and one Rheumatologist (the wait time for specialist referral in our area is currently more than 6 months).

Q5. Do you use Electronic Medical Record at SGMC?
Yes. Our EMR system is OSCAR with remote access. We also use fast e-Referral through OCEAN system.
Q6. What type of practice are you looking for specialists in Kitchener clinic?
You can build your own practice as you like. We will look after advertisement and patient referrals and scheduling. You can see new consultations and follow-ups.
Q7. Is there any local hospital for acute patient referral in Kitchener area?
Yes, you can refer to Grand River Hospital, St. Mary General Hospital and/or Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Also, you can apply for hospital privileges in any of these hospitals if you like.
Q8. Can I teach at SGMC Kitchener clinic?
Yes, SGMC-Kitchener clinic is a teaching site for McMaster University-Waterloo Region Campus. Our Nephrologist is a Clinical Assistant Professor and he teaches undergraduates and postgraduates. Once you get your hospital privileges, you can similarly apply to McMaster University to become a clinical faculty if you like.
Q9. How many weeks of vacation can I take per year?
These are fee-for-service opportunities so you can manage your own schedule.
Q10. Can SGMC sponsor American trained physicians for work permit in Canada?
Yes definitely, SGMC can sponsor BE/BC physicians for Work Permit through Immigration Canada. Later on, physicians can apply for permanent residency status in Canada.
Q11. What is the financial model does SGMC have?
Every physician bills the Ministry of Health (Ontario Health) directly. The overhead expenses are a percentage based on billed services and they are negotiable.
