Medical Director Long Term Care

Basic Function and Scope:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Medical Director Long Term Care, is responsible for directing and organizing the home's medical services as required by all applicable legislation and home policies, including but not limited to the areas of medical service provision, administration of medical directives and programs, and participation in staff education. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with extensive experience and a passion to help shape long term care service delivery for today and in the future.

Qualifications:

Experience in Primary Care, Care of the Elderly, Palliative Care

Education:

• Legally qualified medical practitioner licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Of Ontario.
• Commitment to continuing education and maintaining current knowledge and practice in long term care.

Required Skills:

• Provide advice and be accountable for the areas of administrative medical services and policies in the home including:
• Development, implementation, and evaluation of standards for medical services.
• Support the Director of Care in an annual review of medical care policies.
• Support the Director of Care in the preparation of an annual report summarizing the strengths and areas for improvement within the medical service program.
