Dental Hygienist

Duties:

• Identifying gaps in clinical schedule and making recommendations to the Regional Manager overseeing the practices performance;
• Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession and exposing and developing radiographic studies;
• Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins;
• Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions as required;
• Establishes strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behavior;
• Deliver optimal levels of continuity between patient and service provider;
• Demonstrate active listening and empathy to patients using effective communication skills;
• Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
• Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
• Assisting dentist(s) in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary;
• Assist in updating and maintaining client dental records;
• Ensure all denial of treatment consent forms have been completed and gathered;
• Schedule patient next appointments;
• Understanding and adhering to Radiographic Quality Assurance Controls, Infection Control, WHMIS and all other applicable laws and regulations to provide a safe environment for patients and staff;
• Ensuring all clinical and storage areas are clean and organized; and
• Caring for dental equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $44.00-$50.00 per hour
