Practice Details:
Become a part of the dynamic General Internal Medicine team at Shuswap Lake Hospital! If you are passionate about your work, enjoy working within a strong team and are looking to practice in a welcoming community setting where the lifestyle opportunities are endless, this may be the position for you!
The Internal Medicine group consists of five dedicated and collegial professionals. Our community and GP run hospital hosts a full time Emergency Department, General Surgery, Obstetrics, and Anesthesia. The successful candidate will share inpatient call with the group and provide outpatient consultations in a private office on your own schedule. There are existing opportunities to do outreach clinics in other regional facilities, with provincial funding support through NITAOP and the RSLP. Along with providing an IM consultative service, we provide critical care services including central lines, transvenous pacemakers, non-invasive ventilation, etc. and stabilization of critical care patients, however we do not currently support ventilated patients. Cardiac diagnostics (Holters, ECGs) as well as stress testing are available. There are no Internal Medicine subspecialists within our community, which means we have a very diverse and interesting practice. This leaves room to accommodate most subspecialty niches and special skillsets including bronchoscopy, endoscopy, echocardiography, etc.
The ideal candidate will be a true general internist, with comfort providing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide breadth of diseases and conditions. This individual should be motivated in becoming a strong member of the local medical community, have an interest in providing robust Internal Medicine inpatient care hospital services, coupled with a desire to provide outpatient services.
A 1:6 call schedule and clinic flexibility easily translates into a strong work-life balance; a philosophy shared by the Shuswap Lake Hospital Internal Medicine group. The abundance of all-season recreational and family opportunities provides many healthy options for time away.
