The Senior Director Nursing serves as a member of the Chief Nurse Officer's team and serves as his/her designee for assigned nursing projects and responsibilities. Supports the office of the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the strategic vision of Nursing and Clinical Care. Assumes responsibility for championing the nursing professional practice model, shared leadership, ongoing professional advancement that support professional nursing practice. Inspires others to seek professional growth opportunities and successfully applies Lean and evidenced-based practice to achieve targeted outcomes. Collaborates with nurses at all levels across Nursing Services across the network in support of shared governance and exemplary nursing practice.
Accountable for a significant function in a market and contributes to system-wide initiatives. Has significant budgetary authority and financial responsibility with organizational-wide impact. Responsible for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility. Responsible and accountable for establishing and maintaining excellence in nursing practice and effectiveness and efficiency of nursing operations within their defined areas of responsibility.
This position serves as facilitator of collaborative professional relationships between and among medical staff, system programs, and hospital operations for the purpose of creating a healing and supportive environment for patients and staff. The position models the values, acts in accordance with nursing policies and procedures and holds others accountable for meeting standards which may be informed by industry best practices or may be regulatory in nature. This position provides leadership for advancing, developing, refining, and innovating nursing clinical delivery operations throughout the facility, in conjunction with the CNOs at both the hospital and the system.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
1. In conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer, leads committees or councils to establish strategic direction, agenda, monitoring and facilitation of work, projects and outcomes related to clinical excellence and practice and performance improvement.
2. Applies current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current best practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding assigned departments for operational and financial effectiveness. Ensures regulatory compliance for all areas of responsibility. Follows all local, state, federal law and hospital and/or medical group policies as applicable.
3. Collaborates in a highly matrix patient care team services team.
4. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, designs and directs the implementation of programs and processes to support organizational mission and goals. Assists and mentors Nursing Leadership in growth and development.
5. Optimizes clinical practice effectiveness through consultation with executives, collaboration, supervision, and direction of the community's policy and professional practice committees, quality improvement efforts, as well as the oversight and coordination of division's policies and procedures. Strengthens an evidence-base foundation and consistency in the implementation of policies and procedures.
6. Manages resources to provide efficient, cost-effective, and outcomes-oriented nursing programs. Partners in budget preparation and ongoing adherence to approved budget.
7. Serves as community partner to local stakeholders and organizations for collaboration on nursing-centric activities and programs. Provides leadership and acts as a liaison to system practice council meetings on behalf of community patient care leadership.
8. Monitors and evaluates operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standard with nursing leadership.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS** _(Required unless otherwise stated)_
**REQUIRED EDUCATION**
+ Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
+ Master's Degree: Master of Science in Nursing or master's degree with an emphasis in clinical practice or a combination of education and professional experience.
+ Doctorate Degree: Doctor of Nursing Practice _(Preferred)_
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**
+ Minimum of 7 years leadership experience as a RN in an acute care hospital.
+ Significant experience in an acute care setting in varied clinical, educational or administrative roles.
+ Evidence of experience in research conduct and utilization focusing on improving clinical quality, costs, outcomes and/or patient safety.
+ Established capacity for professional leadership within and between organizations.
+ Demonstrated experience in grant writing and identifying funding opportunities. _(Preferred)_
**CREDENTIALS** _(Required upon hire)_
+ Registered Nurse Washington State
+ Basic Life Support
**REQUIRED SKILLS**
+ Comprehensive and thorough understanding of all elements of health care delivery in patient care setting, including strategy, business planning, operations and finances.
+ Evidence of skilled strategic collaboration and communication.
+ Knowledge of nursing theory, evidence-based practice, and research required to provide leadership for performance improvement.
+ Understanding of health care industry changes, competitor actions, legal/regulatory changes and technological trend.
+ Ability to lead, guide and motivate staff in a positive, results oriented manner.
+ A high level of analytical ability and ability to design complex or administrative systems.
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is **$212,439 - $289,000** . The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, etc.
