 The Good Samaritan Society is a faith-based, non-profit, registered charity dedicated to providing quality accommodations, continuing care, and community care services to our residents and clients across Alberta. Good Samaritan Pembina Village strives to provide excellent healthcare and support services to vulnerable members of our community, in Evansberg, Alberta.

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified Physician to join our continuing care team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality medical care to our residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. The Physician will play a vital role in providing medical service within the overall healthcare delivery within our care home.

Note that the Physician is not employed by The Good Samaritan Society. They will provide services with billing to Alberta Health.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments of residents and develop personalized care plans.
• Provide ongoing medical care, monitoring, and treatment to residents in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and perform necessary medical procedures.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to patient care.
•  Act as a liaison between the care home and external healthcare providers to facilitate seamless transitions of care.
• Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Educate and support residents, their families, and staff on medical issues and treatment plans.

Qualifications:

•  Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
• Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Current and unrestricted medical license in Alberta.
• Experience in continuing care/long-term care or geriatrics is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare.
