The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for our long-term care facility in Charlottetown, PEI. This position reports to the Administrator and Director of Nursing, and assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in our continuing care community.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Completion of a recognized practical nursing program.
• Current registration with the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of PEI.
• Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• A valid criminal record check.
• Up to date first aid and CPR training.
• Experience in a community care or nursing care setting is as asset.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to residents based on resident assessment and care plan procedures.
• Perform tasks such as vital signs, aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, adhere to infection control policies and procedures, monitor nutritional intake and conduct specimen collection.
• Monitor resident progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Provide safety and health education to staff and residents.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
• Perform rounds with in-house physician.
• Transfer, lift, and reposition residents.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
• Other duties as necessary.

Wage range: $29.20 hourly

Shifts may range from 6 to 12 hours, with a combination of days, evening, nights, weekends, holidays. The successful applicant must be able to work a combination of shifts, with flexibility.
