Your New Role:

Join our health care team at the Texada Island Health Centre as a solo practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to provide primary and urgent care services to the residents and visitors of Texada Island. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1600, with low after-hours call volumes. BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) ensures efficient service and emergency transfer off-island when needed.

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full

RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES (Texada Island)

Recruitment Incentive Fund (RIF)  

• $15,000 one-time payment, prorated for physicians working less than full-time 

Fee Premium (%)

• 12.92% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts 

Flat Fee

• $19,599.44 annual flat fee payment paid to any physician that resides and practices in an eligible community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.  

Relocation Funding 

• $9,000 (based on where you are relocating from –within BC)  
• $12,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving within Canada outside BC) 
• $15,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving from outside of Canada) 

Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) 

• Individual funds - $4,840.00 over 4 years 

Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA) 

• R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees, requiring 9 months of residency and practice in an RSA community and at least $75,000 in billing.
