Looking for ER Locum coverage aprox 4-6 shifts a month, multiple positions available.

Hospital Information:

Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and mental-health unit.

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging - including CT, and outpatient Hemodialysis Unit are operated on-site.

About Us:

Come join the collegial Emergency team in Williams Lake! In this rural community, you can still practice emergency medicine without CCFP-EM, although CCFP, CCRP (EM) and FRCP Emergency Physicians are all invited to practice in Williams Lake. We see ~22,000 ER visits/year. Our 24/7 Emergency Room has the capacity to be staffed with 8 full-time emergency physicians. Shifts are 8 hours but with the option to work a 12-hour shift.

We see a broad range of interesting cases involving numerous procedures and we are well supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, General Surgery, Pediatrics and Psychiatry.

The Community:

Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 in Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails, makes Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing for the winter months. Williams Lake has all amenities, including a local college, an airport, and a variety of fitness and outdoor opportunities. Qualifications:

• Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
• Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
• Emergency experience
• Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Remuneration:

APP Contract rates based on 10-hour Shifts paid at 8 hours direct patient care and 2 hours indirect patient care. *Option to increase shift coverage to 12 hours direct patient care with 3 hours indirect patient care available upon request.

Average Daily Rate based on 10 hour shift:

·        Emergency Medicine A (EMFP):

o  Hourly Rate $209.09 + RRP 12.32% = $2,348.50 per shift + applicable afterhours premiums

·        Emergency Medicine B (EMSP):

o  Hourly Rate $231.27 + RRP 12.32% = $2,597.62 per shift + applicable afterhours premiums

In addition, an exception to temporarily offer a locum recruitment incentive has been approved by the Ministry of Health currently in effect from February 1, 2024 until September 30, 2024.

·        Payable at a flat rate of $1,000 per morning, afternoon & night shift and at $650 per overlap shift

All scheduled locums are eligible for travel expenses in accordance with the IH Locum Policy as well as Paid travel time honorarium to a maximum of $1,500.
