Position Description
Temporary Assignment - Approximately 52 Weeks
Position Summary
To support patient safety and the hospital’s medication management system through the preparation, verification and supply of medications.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program, OR graduation from an OCP recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a regulated Pharmacy Technician
- Demonstrated accuracy in computer order entry, pharmaceutical arithmetic, and application of pharmaceutical and medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively and cooperate with co-workers
Responsibilities
- Supports the unit dose drug distribution system
- Uses available automation and technology appropriately
- Inventory management such that wastage is minimized and safety standards are maintained, as supported by the OCP, NAPRA, CSHP and Accreditation Canada
