A full-time opportunity for a Psychiatrist in our inpatient Women's Trauma and Concurrent Program starting July 2024. The Women's Trauma & Concurrent program is one of the first of its kind in Canada - a groundbreaking initiative offering intensive treatment tailored specifically for women* with complex trauma. This new program further integrates care for co-occurring substance use disorders (where required), providing a fully comprehensive approach to treatment. This position is within our elective Homewood Specialized Services delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. This program is delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, registered psychotherapists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, music therapists, and horticulture therapists. In this role, you will be responsible for the psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey. This position is open to persons of all genders.

Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.
Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate.
Provide ongoing supervision and management of care including weekly individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met.
Collaborate with other physicians, nurses and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and finally, a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team.
Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided).
Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions.
Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained.
Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences (with NP support).
Complete and submit OHIP billings in a timely manner.
Ability to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre approximately once per month is an asset.
Liaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, WSIB).
