The Medical Society of Prince Edward Island (MSPEI) is a dynamic professional association representing the province’s physicians. With a mission to advance healthcare and advocate for the well-being of doctors and their patients, MSPEI serves as the unified voice for the medical community on Prince Edward Island. The organization is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for physicians through advocacy, professional development, and collaboration with health system stakeholders. MSPEI plays a pivotal role in shaping healthcare policy, enhancing physician wellness, and improving patient outcomes. With the new groundbreaking Physician Services Agreement, MSPEI is driving innovative solutions and providing enhanced support for physicians, strengthening healthcare for all Islanders. Joining MSPEI means becoming part of a passionate team committed to making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of Islanders.
Reporting to the Chief, Strategy & Physician Services, the Director of the Physician Services Agreement (PSA) is a key member of MSPEI’s leadership team, responsible for collaborating with physicians, senior health system leaders, and partners to maximize the impact of PEI’s progressive new Physician Services Agreement. This role ensures that the PSA equips physicians with the tools and resources necessary to thrive in their work, delivering high-quality care. An entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented leader, the Director will work with the Implementation Management Committee to drive the development and implementation of initiatives derived from the PSA to enhance both the physician experience and health system outcomes.
The Director of PSA is a self-motivated and creative problem-solver, skilled at navigating complex challenges and managing risk with critical thinking and innovative decision-making. They lead with empathy and diplomacy, while remaining firm and results-driven when addressing challenges. Known for their strong interpersonal skills, they excel at building trusted relationships to achieve shared goals. The Director will be adept at managing expectations, ensuring clear communication, setting realistic goals, and aligning efforts to achieve the objectives of the PSA. They balance big-picture strategy with hands-on implementation and thrive in dynamic environments where collaboration and resourcefulness are key.
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in complex systems such as healthcare, public service, or a related field, with a proven track record of driving impactful initiatives and delivering measurable results. Post-secondary education in healthcare management, human resources, labour relations, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred. The ideal candidate also possesses the ability to interpret labour contracts, ensuring they are fully understood, effectively applied, and leveraged to support both physicians and patient well-being. Working within a smaller organization, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate resourcefulness, adaptability, and the ability to maximize impact. They embody MSPEI’s core values of high performance, leadership, and professionalism, and are deeply committed to fostering a positive and high-functioning medical profession in PEI.
