We are an infant feeding support clinic offering ohip-covered virtual and in-person support for families. We are currently looking for a few Paediatricians to join our team (virtually) in order to use out-of-basket OHIP codes to avoid negations to family physicians.
Our business model offers revenue to any physicians who would like to take part while requiring very little time/effort. We do all the leg work for the physicians, by the time they are on the call, I will have already had a 45 minute hands-on consultation with mom & baby. The video call is for the physician to offer their approval (or additional suggestions) of the treatment plan for the purposes of OHIP billing. Our physicians typically spend 2-5 minutes on each video-call and are able to take them in addition to their existing clinical practices. We are personally with each patient for 60 minutes so we are able to be flexible with call timing if the physician requires time to finish with their own patients before joining and keep very detailed chart notes in Oscar Pro and all of our patients come with referrals from a midwife, GP or OB. We use a third party billing company (DoctorCare) and have a group billing setup to keep everything as simple as possible for all of our physicians.
We currently have a fantastic group of GPs that work with us and believe we are making a difference in the community, however, with the recent code changes, our submissions end up negating the patients' family physicians as they are not specialists. We work very hard to maintain a good relationship with all physicians in order to work as a team in ensuring parents have access to the support they need regardless of their financial circumstances, maintaining harmonious team-oriented healthcare is difficult when our services cost GP's some of their income.
I would love to set up a time to discuss this opportunity in more detail with any pediatricians who may be interested.
