Position Summary

A full-time opportunity for an Acute Inpatient Psychiatrist starting immediately, delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nursing, social work, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, and horticulture therapy. In this role, you will be responsible for the clinical psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.

What you'll be doing:

• Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, referral, daily care, and discharge.
• Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate, as well as the interdisciplinary team for individual support return to work planning, and psychotherapeutic interventions.
• Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including daily rounds and sufficient individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met.
• Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.

What we are looking for:

• A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
• Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred.
• Interest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care.
• Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization.
