*POTENTIAL FOR $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS UPON HIRE*
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care under the direction of the registered nurse and within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.
- Identifies and reports changes in patients’ status to Registered Nurse for evaluation.
- Works within the team nursing model to implement the identified plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Follows identified education plan and evaluates the effectiveness of learning.
- Administers treatments and other direct care.
- Administers medications safely according to the five rights of medication administration.
- Administers peripheral IV medications as prescribed within the scope of licensure under the supervision of the Registered nurse.
- Observes and evaluates patients’ responses to medications.
- Identifies and promptly communicates adverse drug reactions to the Registered Nurse.
- Collects specimens as ordered.
- Utilizes electronic medical record and other computerized programs for documentation of care and completion of daily tasks.
- Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
- Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
- Treats patient/family with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychological, social, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patient/family.
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation and provides care that consistently complies with the Aultman Corporate Service Standards and high reliability culture.
- Manages time wisely and seeks assignments when duties are completed.
- Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards.
- Seeks opportunities for involvement and participates in hospital based committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed Practical Nurse license in the State of Ohio
- IV Certification
- BLS and ACLS
- Subject to background check and fingerprinting

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 8 or 12 hour shifts; days, afternoons, nights; weekends and holidays; overtime based on a 40 hour work week
- On-call based on unit specific need
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
- Hazardous Exposure Category – I – tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
O = Occasionally = 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = Constantly = 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
N = Not essential job requirement.
