Work Location: Clinton , NJ
Work Hours : 40-hour work weeks include five 8-hour shifts. The hours are from 2:00pm to 10:30pm daily. Must be able to work every other weekend (including both Saturday and Sunday) and every other Holiday.
Responsibilities:
+ Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides technical nursing care, at a Women's Correctional Facility , to assigned patients, performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
+ Participates in data collection related to the patients' status and needs.
+ Provides input to Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating information pertinent to the patient's status.
+ Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
+ Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established policies.
+ Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient's health/illness state and plan of care.
+ Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
+ Assists patient/significant other in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home.
+ Documents all aspects of patient care and reports all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences.
+ Maintains supplies and equipment.
+ Serves productively on committees and participates in unit staff meetings.
+ Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of correctional nursing and the image of the organization.
+ Adheres to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit. (i. e., Conforms to dress code; Adheres to attendance policy; Reports to work at designated time; Remains at assigned post until properly relieved).
Required Skills:
+ Must possess a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
+ Minimum of six (6) months of experience as a Nurse in a clinical and/or hospital setting.
+ CPR Certification required.
+ Must possess own vehicle (with a valid driver's license) or have alternative means of transportation from one local site to another.
+ Experience in patient care and giving medication to multiple people at once.
+ Common sense, astuteness, professional, time & attendance hasn't been an issue in previous employment.
+ Strong personality, but at the same time always maintains professionalism.
+ Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
+ Medical surgery experience is a plus.
+ Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections and the assigned facility(s) including, but not limited to sign in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Typing, ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments, ability to speak clearly and write proficiently is essential, extensive reading required, extended sitting is required, intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities, ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities, frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls, manual dexterity and mobility for charting, hearing and sight are essential, may be required to travel within the state and ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
