Job Summary
The RN (EC), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) will join the NICU multidisciplinary team as an expert practitioner in a family-centered program based care environment; the principal responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with neonatologists in providing for the medical care of sick infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Labour and Delivery Unit, and Maternal Newborn Units.
- Maintaining close communication with the Neonatologist-on-Service and other team members responsible for specific infants, as well as appropriate communication with the family physician, obstetrician, paediatrician and medical consultants.
- Coordinating the implementation of medical care with other health care team members, including nursing, perinatal follow-up, respiratory therapy, laboratory services and diagnostic imaging, social work, pharmacy, clinical nutrition, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
- Maintaining communication with parents of infants in the NICU, so that the families are adequately informed of the infants condition and treatment plans.
- Participating as a member of the NICU leadership team
- Collaborating with the Program Manager and CPC in identifying and implementing quality improvement initiatives
- Participating in policy and procedure development
- Collaborating with the CPC to identify and implement educational and other professional development initiatives
- Participating in research activities
- Performing activities to further develop and strengthen the profession
- Acting as a resource and serving as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospital/agencies; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a graduate degree in nursing in the clinical specialty of neonatal nursing or a recognized equivalent graduate program at master level - required
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Nursing in the Extended Class - required
- Current certification in BCLS and NRP required
- Minimum 2 years relevant clinical experience - preferred
- Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in neonatal intensive care nursing and advanced practice skills.

Compensation/Benefits
- Compensation depending on experience ($57.10 to $69.22/hr)
