Job Description
General Internal Medicine
As a member of the internal medicine team, you will work with five other general internists and a cardiologist. You will provide General Internal Medicine on-call coverage at Norfolk General Hospital in a 1/7 rotation seeing a mixture of emergency room patients and inpatients. Subspecialists or General Internists with a subspecialty interest may be considered but must participate in the Internal Medicine on call schedule.
Norfolk General Hospital is a 102-bed full-service community hospital accredited with exemplary standing serving a population of over 65,000 residents in Norfolk County. Hospital services include 24/7 emergency room, CT scanner, ultrasound and echocardiography capabilities. NGH has a 9-bed ICU where we care for a mix of cardiac, respiratory, and surgical cases.
Internists can take care of up to three intubated patients with support from the Anesthesia service. Other specialists at our hospital include four General Surgeons, four GP/Anesthetists and one Ophthalmologist. The majority of inpatients are followed by a hospitalist service when they no longer require the care of a specialist. There is also an excellent opportunity to establish an office based General Internal Medicine practice. There is excellent support for your patients from numerous specialists within a 1-2 hour drive.
The hospital is located in Simcoe, ON, 10 min from Lake Erie on Ontarios beautiful Southcoast. NGH is centrally located 30 minutes away from Brantford, 60 minutes away from Hamilton, London, Kitchener and only 90 minutes from the greater Toronto area.
Norfolk County is renowned for its local fresh produce, warm southern climate, outstanding wineries, fishing on Long Point Bay, outdoor activities including 55 kilometres of mountain biking trails, camping, Carolinian forests, and sandy beaches from Port Dover to Long Point.
