Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief, Infectious Disease. The Division, within the Department of Medicine, is home to innovative clinical programs and robust basic, translational, epidemiological, and clinical research programs focused on HIV/AIDS, bacterial, viral, and fungal genomics and resistance mechanisms, antimicrobial resistance, transplant-related infections, global health and capacity-building, and emerging and re-emerging pathogens of public health significance. Additionally, the Division supports a robust educational mission, including a fellowship training program that recruits three outstanding fellows annually and is funded, in part, through an NIAID T32 grant. The successful candidate will expand this portfolio while interacting with existing schools, departments, and centers across the University. The successful candidate will have a key leadership role in the Northwestern Medicine HealthCare system’s infectious disease healthcare strategy. Reporting to the Department of Medicine Chair, the Chief will oversee the Division’s academic, research, and administrative affairs. The Feinberg School of Medicine is ranked 15th nationally and has $706 million in annual research funding. The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is in downtown Chicago close to the “Magnificent Mile.” The medical school is part of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University that includes three nationally ranked hospitals: Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago). Successful candidates will possess an MD; be board-certified in Infectious Disease; be eligible for a faculty appointment as a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Professor; and have a record of scholarly accomplishments and national recognition in research.
