As a Banner Gateway Medical Center Certified Patient Care Assistant-CPCA for Med Surg and Surgical Oncology, you will help provide basic nursing assistance to patients. Duties can vary from vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate), assisting with patient hygiene and movement, and generally monitoring the patient and providing updates to clinical staff. Bring your passion for post-surgical care and the surgical oncology population to help us achieve our mission of making healthcare easier so life can be better for the patients on the 4th floor at Banner Gateway Medical Center. 4W is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit that recently opened in Banner Gateway’s new tower with a patient population comprised primarily of a variety of post-operative patients received from the peri-operative care unit. Although most of our patients undergo cancer removal surgeries, we also care for general surgery and medical patients

• Full Time (3 -12 hour shift) Day Shift Available
• There are no set schedules
• Shift Hours can be from 7pm-7:30am
• Varied Shifts = could be working days nights, weekends
• Weekend Rotations are required in this role. 2 Weekend shifts required each month
• Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
• Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.

4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for p
